This morning I started to assemble the tailcone. I placed the bottom skins on the work table and clecoed and riveted the stiffeners in place as directed on the drawings. I then placed the skins upside down on the tailcone support horses. I hooked the skins into the ribs and clecoed the ribs and skins together.
I discovered an effective way to remove the blue film from long pieces of skin. I have learned that by clamping the skin to the work table I can pull the film off with little difficulty.
I pulled the blue film off of the left and right corner skins and then installed them on the frames.
I hooked the J stiffeners into the fuselage frames and then clecoed them to the bottom skins. I first attached the left corner skin then proceeded to attach the right corner skin. I continued to cleco the skins and ribs together. Next I reiveted the bottom skins together and rivetd the bottom skins to the fuselage frames. I also riveted the corner skins to the bottom skins. I then turned the tailcone upright on the horses.
At this point I attached the right side skin to the frames and clecoed it in place. I clecoed the fuselage bulkhead in place at the end of the tailcone.
