Landing Light Lens Problem

I attempted to fit the landing light lens to the opening in the right wing.  Last week, I dimpled the eight holes around the landing light opening.  Today, when I tried to fit the lens to the opening the dimpling proved to be a mistake.  After cutting the lens to the rough size, drilling and countersinking the holes for the screws I learned that the lens would not sit properly in the wing.  There was a gap approximately 3/32" between the lens and the leading edge of the wing skin.  This is not acceptable to me.  I have ordered a new lens and new screws.  I have also used the squeezer to flatten the dimples at the screws.  I will attempt to fit the new lens after it arrives next week.
